Potential Is Everywhere. Opportunity Isn’t.

Fitrah works with young people whose strengths and potential may have been overshadowed by circumstances—or who simply haven’t had access to the experiences, relationships, and opportunities that help reveal what’s possible.

Many have experienced foster care, involvement with the justice system, housing instability, disruptions in education, disabilities or differing abilities,or other barriers as they move toward adulthood.

Those experiences are part of their story. They are not the end of it.

Every young person who comes through Fitrah brings a different story. Rather than tell you who they are, we’d rather let them tell you themselves.

WHO FINDS THEIR WAY TO FITRAH

We intentionally create opportunities for young people who may have had fewer doors open to them, including young people who have experienced:

• Foster care or the child welfare system
• Juvenile justice or other system involvement
• Homelessness or housing instability
• Disruptions in education
• Limited access to employment and career opportunities
• Other barriers to entering the workforce

We use these terms to describe circumstances and experiences—not young people’s potential.

That is very Fitrah.

WHAT AN OPEN DOOR CAN LOOK LIKE

Sometimes an open door is a first paycheck.

Sometimes it’s being trusted with responsibility.

Sometimes it’s discovering you’re good at working with your hands.

Sometimes it’s meeting someone working in a career you never knew existed.

And sometimes it’s simply having someone see beyond what you’ve been through and recognize what you’re capable of.

Fitrah exists to create more of those moments.
